Ex-president Obasanjo surprises plane passengers, flies economy class

- Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has shocked airpline passengers by flying in economy class

- The ex-leader's aides didn't manage to book him a business class ticket to fly to the South-East Economic and Security Summit

Passengers of Air Peace airline at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos were totally bemused after they saw former president Olusegun Obasanjo boarding the plane to fly in economy class on Thursday, December 22.

A commercial airline travelled out of Lagos at 7am to Enugu, where the ex-president was received by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu state, ahead of the South-East Economic and Security Summit‎.

According to Mr Obasanjo aides, they didn't manage to book a business class ticket and Obasanjo had nothing to do but to buy the last remainig economy class ticket.

Due to this circumstance, Mr. Obasanjo was travelling without his security detail and flatly refused to take seats of the passengers from a business class who offered their seats.

Mr. Obasanjo took his seat number 18A only after taking several photographs with some amused passengers.
