‘AD is dead, buried in Ondo’-APC Members says

The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has described the Alliance for Democracy in the state as a dead party that cannot pose a threat to the APC in the November 26 governorship election in the state.

The APC also said the AD candidate for the election, Chief Olusola Oke, and other chieftains of the AD only assembled in the party to achieve “their selfish interests,” stating that they were wasting their time in the quest to win the election.


The Deputy Chairman of the APC in the state, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, who spoke with journalists in Akure on Monday, said the AD had been buried with a former governor of the state, the late Chief Adebayo Adefarati.



Adetimehin, who implored the people of the state not to vote for the AD, said the AD’s lifespan ended the day Adefarati was committed to mother earth, noting that the state could no longer go back to the days of the AD.

He added, “We have two governments – the progressives and the conservative – and we can’t have two progressives in Ondo State. The APC is the only progressives’ party in Ondo State. Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, Rauf Aregbesola and others are progressives and they are members of the APC and they will never support anyone who is not progressive-minded.

“The AD is just an assemblage of desperate politicians, who are hiding under the platform of progressives to achieve their selfish agenda. They are a set of people who have been jumping from one political party to another. I have been in the progressive for 13 years; ask them where were they in the last 13 years?

“We have left Egypt and anyone who wants to revive the AD must wake up the late Chief Adebayo Adefarati because the flag and symbols of the AD were buried with him.”

In his reaction, the Head of Media and Publicity of the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation, Mr. Kola Olabisi, said the APC was worried because of the vibrancy of the AD and the increasing popularity of its candidate among the people of the state.

Olabisi stated, “If the AD is dead in Ondo, why are they worried? The only problem they have is the popularity of Olusola Oke and this forthcoming election is not the type they can rig because we are campaigning, they are not because they only rely on rigging.

“Their candidate (Rotimi Akeredolu) is not popular even in his home town.

“They should wait till the election day, shocker awaits them. We are up to date with their antics. Very soon, we will expose them.”
