Erediauwa spent seven days at Usama Palace after leaving Eko-Ohae (bachelor’s camp) last Tuesday in a procession that was witnessed by hundreds of residents.
Some rites, including the Ekassa dance, were also performed at
the palace located around Siluko Road.
At Use, he is expected to play a traditional game of pebbles (Akhue), with the Edigin N’ Use (community head), Edigin Ekpen Kelvin.
Historically, the pebbles were sent by Prince Oranmiyan to his son, who later became Oba Eweka I and was known to be the first Oba to play the game, prior to his reign in 1200 AD.
The departed Oba was formerly addressed as Prince Solomon Akenzua, before he played the customary game and chose the name, “Erediauwa.”
The traditional head had, in an interview, said he was prepared to play the traditional game with the heir apparent.
Edigin Kelvin said, “We are preparing for the coming of the crown prince. I will play the traditional game with the prince.”
He also described the event as part of his family’s heritage.
